Data Warehouse Testing

Unlike normal testing, Data Warehouse testing deals with the testing of the unseen. There are typically no screens to view or obtain values from. The validation keys may not be viewable and may have to be calculated. This is why data warehouse testing is different and unique.

Data Warehouse Testing Methodology

The first stage in the process is the Source Data Validation. This stage includes carrying out the base level checks like Data availability, Source data format validations and Business date checks.

The second stage is the Target Data Testing and Validation. At this stage, checks are carried out for loss of data, In accurate data etc. as also for data profiling and dimensional data checks. The complexity of the application and the performance is also tested.

The third stage is the Report Testing and Validation stage. This encompasses verification of user authenticity and user access privileges. The report disbursement, performance etc. are tested end to end.

Business Objects Migration

Many companies today are using various versions on Business Objects. The process of migration towards the latest version - BO XI has been slow. There are many reasons for this, chief among them being the lack of the necessary expertise to embark on this exercise.
